Flying from or to Boise’s airport for Christmas travel or any time of year gets easier as there are now even more direct flights. And the prices aren’t bad either!
Flying into and out of Boise is easy!
If you’ve been to the Boise airport you know that it’s super easy and quick… but if you have a lay-over somewhere, it can take so much more of your day and adds an element of risk to your travels (see my personal story below). Boise has just added even more DIRECT flights which makes things so much easier.
Boise’s Channel 7 interviewed Shawna Samuelson, the marketing manager for the Boise airport, who said, “It’s all about making the trip as seamless as possible. The more nonstop flights we can offer, the easier it is for passengers to get where they need to be without unnecessary delays.” The article also reports that Boise currently offers nonstop flights to 27 destinations and one-stop connections to over 300 locations across the country.
Some of the direct destinations that caught my eye were: For our friends in the southland, Atlanta and Orlando; Las Vegas, Phoenix, Seattle and Portland because we have several clients who moved from there who may have family needing to come visit; and several places in California like Sacramento, Sonoma, San Diego and several others. Of particular note is Palm Springs… our friend Craig can quickly fly up here to get his supply of beef jerky from the Old Country Sausage in Nampa!
But what about the cost? Hugely expensive or not so bad? I checked out some round-trip flights to get an idea… and here’s what Google said:
SACRAMENTO – round-trip! Direct flight… about an hour and a half… ONLY $167. You know that some people there spend more time in traffic than that! Have you ever hit every traffic light red on Watt Ave?
LAS VEGAS – again, round-trip… direct flight… under 2 hours… can you believe $137!!
SEATTLE – round-trip, direct flight… about an hour and a half… $207! That’s incredible! Why not have friend and family come visit for a weekend?
HOTLANTA – well, yes, round-trip, direct flight, about 4 hours… but OUCH.. $674! You can get cheaper using a connecting flight… but it takes HOURS longer to get there.
SAN FRAN – again… not bad at all! Round-trip, direct flight, less than 2 hours… only $183. You’ll spend more than that on one restaurant when you get there!
LONDON – what? Yes, England. People from Idaho might want to visit England… or vice-versa. Sorry… no direct flights… but a round-trip could be had for a little over $1k. The trip takes about 12 hours… yes, that’s just about all day. Charge your phone and bring a good book.
Treasure Valley Dave's Thoughts
A quick story; I had a flight going to Turkey via Germany. Not a direct flight. “Okay, no problem,” I figured. Well, I figured wrong! The plane lands in Frankfurt… my ticket says the same plane will be heading on down to Istanbul. Apparently the pilot had other plans. All the passengers got off… and I’m just sitting there in the back until some nice people suggested that I get off the freakin’ plane! There I am, walking around a German airport not knowing the language other than “danke” and “Meister Brau”. But the fine folks at Lufthansa helped me get things all sorted out and I eventually got to Turkey. My luggage arrived three days later… what was left of it, anyway.
Sooooo IF you can get a direct flight, so much the better! But if you have to have a lay-over… it’s still worth it if you’re coming to Boise! AND IF you’re coming to Boise for your “fact-finding” trip to see if the Treasure Valley is your next home, give Mareen and me a call and let us help make your experience just that much more fantastic! Heck, let’s even do lunch!!
