January 6th has gotten a bum rap these past 4 years… and it was such a beautiful winter’s day this year I thought we could just enjoy our cute little town together!
Idaho is a Border State!
Yes, this is Nampa, Idaho… a northern border state… in the middle of winter. I know that from Kansas to the East Coast there is nothing but brutal winds, temps and deep-freeze misery. But Nampa is hidden away in the “Banana Belt” of Idaho… and we get days like this!
Here’s a look at Lakeview Park (left/top) where kids of all ages were out enjoying nature. Nampa has many walking paths and this one, Stoddard Trail (right/bottom), is just the place to start walking off those excess holiday pounds.
Here’s a few pics from my wandering around downtown. A little hustle-and-bustle on the main drag (it is a state highway) but just a short walk gets you into the old downtown with convenient little shops and great places to eat. The City workers are taking down this year’s Christmas tree. It was sure THE big event for the lighting just a few short weeks ago.
I like checking out the Nampa Airport. The Tower Grill is a super place to grab breakfast or lunch and, just possibly, hear stories from some pilot sitting near you. Seems that flying around is a great way to see our beautiful mountains. Another way, hitting that little white ball around or running laps at Columbia High School.
Of course, we can’t tour Nampa without checking out Lake Lowell. There’s the pebbly beach and a nice park with picnic tables… and nearby is the nature preserve with walking trails and an educational facility and lookout. And this is all just minutes away from anywhere in west Nampa… literally.
Just a couple random stops… one is a gentle creek just waiting for a family of ducks to come visit. Another is one of many places where houses back up to golf courses throughout the city. Not a bad view from this one! And a typical neighborhood in the older part of town.
This is a real estate newsletter so I thought I’d better include some examples of homes that we enjoy here. Some are older, some brand new. Some with great views and others next to inviting parks. One house with Christmas decorations just itchin’ for some snow!
Treasure Valley Dave's Thoughts
It was such a beautiful day here in Nampa… right smack in the middle of winter. I’ve got friends and family across the country; some suffering under the extreme cold and ice and blowing winds… and others threatened with raging wildfires. But the Treasure Valley area around Boise is truly special. You can check out my recent video for how we are so special here (click the picture below).
If you are thinking you might wanna come on over to Idaho and check things out, let me and Mareen know so we can help with your trip. (I’ve got some old-fashioned paper maps of the area for people of my vintage… just easier that way sometimes!) Mareen and I would be thrilled to help you… we can do a Zoom call or phone call or whatever works best for you. The important thing… that you find a place that brings YOU a better quality of life!
