Warhawk Air Museum’s Kilroy Coffee Klatch

Stop in at the Warhawk Air Museum for their monthly Kilroy Coffee Klatch and hear inspirational stories and meet good people… proud American people!

Meet Americans Sacrificed for Freedom

Every month, first Tuesday, the Warhawk Air Museum has their Kilroy Coffee Klatch get-together. Well.. more like a massive event! I learned that this little coffee is the largest gathering of veterans in the entire state! It’s easy to see why… vets from WW2 to today come here and feel the fellowship of the shared experience and receive the honor and thanks from their grateful countrymen.

The museum’s moto is ‘Educate, Honor, Preserve’. They certainly do all of those things! Staffed by a huge force of volunteers, educational tours will leave you impressed. Hundreds of children come through the museum and learn the sacrifice and honor our American fighting men and women endured… and even get to talk with real-live veterans share priceless oral history.

The coffee klatch begins with coffee and cookies and a welcoming of first-timers. They get a few minutes to tell who they are and what they did in military service. Turns out… it’s a very emotional experience as the gratitude of the folks often leaks some tears. Today presenter, speaker… maybe story-teller is a better way of saying it… was Carson Spear. Carson is a younger guy who learned and trained and went through hell defending his country. His retelling of events was riveting and tragic and a stark reminder that war is real life.

Speaking of personal stories, the Veterans History Project interviews vets and captures their stories… their personal oral history… in video form in conjunction with the Library of Congress. These interviews with vets are made and preserved so that future generations will understand that we owe our freedom to the bravery and sacrifice of those who served.

Treasure Valley Dave's Thoughts

Come check out the Warhawk Air Museum… whether you’ve just visiting the area or you’ve lived here all your life. You will not be disappointed… with the displays of aircraft and other things that educate on our military heritage. Maybe you could be a volunteer here. I have a friend who volunteers and it’s such a great way to share and give back to the community and to the vets. Check out their website at www.WarhawkAirMuseum.org
