Fall is here; cold temps are coming. You need to blow out any water in your sprinkler lines. Water left in your lines can freeze, expand and break pipes and fittings. Who can you call? I have a suggestion.
Very Important to Blow out Your Sprinklers
Hi everyone! It’s that time of year again… a sniff of wood smoke from some neighborly fireplace, a touch of crisp air drawing leaves down to the grass, and maybe just the hint of pumpkin spice from a nearby coffeeshop! All this means that it’s time to get your sprinkler system blown out!
Our helpful local media is getting the word out too… sharing some valuable tips as irrigation season ends. (You can see the entire article here.)
The advice from Channel 6 is spot-on… “Acting early is key to keeping systems safe from the cold.” It’s also a great way to avoid expensive repairs to your irrigation system next spring. By the way, did you notice that most of your irrigation system is under ground… making it hard to fix a broken part and even harder to find where the problem is?
Can you blow out your own system? Sure… if you know what you’re doing AND you have the right equipment. For me; I don’t have the space nor the money to buy large expensive things I’m only going to use once a year (and by the time I need it, my wife will have put it someplace safe and I’d spend a week trying to find it!). This is where my blow-out guy, Wil Xavier, comes in! This top-notch landscaper has been taking care of my sprinklers for about 10 years… making sure I avoid those costly Spring surprises!
You can get on Wil’s schedule by calling him at 208-250-2003. Here’s Wil’s air compressor along with about 4 miles of hose (okay, maybe not exactly that much!). Why would you want to spend thousands of dollars and the space to store this equipment when Wil will come by once a year for a small amount of money and take care of you?
Speaking of getting ready for winter, in addition to getting your sprinkler system blown out, this is also a good time to clear leaves from your roof gutters, clean out your chimney (if you have a wood stove or fireplace), check your weather stripping around doors and windows, and change your furnace filter. If you need help with these tasks, we’ve got some great handymen and other resources we’ll share with you.
Treasure Valley Dave's Thoughts
You will see signs all over the place for Sprinkler Blow-Outs this time of year. While it’s important to get your system blown out, it’s also important to make sure it’s done right. That’s why I give Wil Xavier a call every fall!
