Last week our Nampa, Idaho mayor suddenly passed away from experiencing a medical emergency while representing our city at a forum with other Treasure Valley mayors. Rick Hogaboam’s passing is a painful loss beyond words affecting his city, his friends and more so his wonderful family.
Getting to Know Rick
I didn’t know Rick that well… and that’s kind of the surprising thing; after a couple of brief conversations with him, I knew that he was a great guy.
I first met Rick while he was addressing the Canyon County Republican Women’s group and he was answering questions and telling us his vision and plans if elected as Nampa’s next mayor.
I ran into Rick again in December for the ribbon-cutting of the Nampa Farmers Market pick-up point at Farmhouse Front Porch. The funny thing; Rick remembered me, knew my name and asked when we were going to get together to do an interview. Sadly, we never got to do that interview.
Such a great night for Nampa, Idaho… Rick Hogaboam sworn in as the new mayor! Rick was a servant leader; he was always out among the community and learning what Nampaians wanted… and what they didn’t want. At the end of every week, Rick would post on social media a video sharing all the things he did that week and the people he met with.
