A great time checking out local artists of all types at Lakeview Park in Nampa, Idaho; paintings, sculptures, wood-working, authors, musicians… every kind of art here!
Just another enjoyable event in Nampa, Idaho!
This weekend in Nampa was the 37th Annual Nampa Festival of the Arts right here in Lakeview Park! So I slipped on my Skechers and boogied down to check out the show! I have to say, I had not gone to any of the previous 36 exhibitions; something always came up. But this time, I just had to go… and I’m so glad I did!
What immediately caught my attention was just how many people and vendors and displays there were… for a Sunday morning, are you kidding me! Why aren’t these people still in bed? I know why, because they were out here having fun! It was cool because it was morning but also because of all those great big trees. It was clean, peaceful, and very much family-friendly.
Oh… and it’s FREE!! And parking was FREE too! This ain’t Caldwell!!
From the City of Nampa’s website, I learned that there were “over two hundred artisan booths with unique handmade items, including jewelry, metal art, paintings and more! New this year is an artisan food section.” Well, you know that last part got my attention!
So what else was there? The City said, “Live entertainment, food concessions, and free activities for children, including a kid’s art booth…” You know what else? The roses in the Lakeview Park rose garden. It’s where you can have your wedding ceremony… so, guys, be careful over there! Also, tons of fun just people-watching and seeing everyone have a fun, stress-free time. Made me glad to be in Idaho!
I also ran into some local authors and they showed me their books. There were the fiction and fantasy and books for younger readers, but I really was drawn to the non-fiction books. One local biography was about the author’s incredible life to include being a pilot on a flight that was hijacked by terrorists! Another local author tells the historical fiction account of a young girl from Germany coming to America in the mid-1800s. Love these local authors!

Another local author I met was Jerome Goettsch… a Marine combat veteran who has some great stories to tell… so he wrote The Cocoa Kid. He told me a couple of stories that are in the book… and some that aren’t! Jerome is a heck of an artist too!!
Getting to meet Jerome and the other local authors really reminded me of the great people we have in Idaho… some tell stories, some are first-responders, some teach our kids… all great people who I am proud to have as my neighbors!
