Payette is found along the western edge of Idaho just along the Payette River where it meets the mighty Snake River. Payette is a step back in time to a slower-paced with a traditional feel that harkens back to idyllic America.
You can live in a century-old home here in a neighborhood with square blocks and large trees. You can also live in brand new homes with all the latest features.

Where is Payette, Idaho?
When the whole world seems crazy… and when the United States is feeling crazy too… coming to Idaho very much feels like coming back to the America we knew growing up; friendly neighbors, low crime, and a good quality of life.
Payette is a little bit of a drive to Boise… figure an hour and twenty minutes. To get to Nampa would be about 45 minutes. Most of the trip is via I-84 and most of that is 80 mph… so pretty quick! Closer in is Ontario, Oregon right across the Snake River.
You quickly get a feel for nature of this little town; traditional downtown area, square blocks of homes with trees and wide streets, and an abundance of outdoor activities must minutes away. Check out my video below where I begin my tour in the old downtown area.

Payette is a great town with an easy-going vibe. I struck up a conversation with a museum volunteer and learned some of the important history of Payette and the surrounding area. (That museum video will come out soon.)

Great Video Look at Payette, Idaho
I know; this video is a little long… but it’s really three videos in one (plus a bonus). I first start off walking around the Payette downtown area, then I take a drive on some of the main streets of town and then through various neighborhood; some with older homes and others brand new. Finally I go through the current property listings to share a feel of what kind of properties you could buy in Payette and their asking prices. You can really find a home for any budget here in Payette… and the quality of life is included!!

Payette is GREAT! Small-town America feel, friendly folks, kind of out by itself yet close enough to all the big-city things you might ever need.
While out filming, I met a volunteer at the Payette County Historical Society & Museum. I got a personalized tour of the museum and learned so much history of Payette and the local area. Just AMAZING! A video of that tour will come out soon… be sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel so you don’t miss that… or any other great videos!
Payette, however, might not be for you if you thrive on the vibe of hustle and bustle or if you work in the Boise, Meridian, Nampa areas or elsewhere in the Treasure Valley. It’s not that far to drive from Payette to make a Costco run in the Nampa or Boise… but for everyday commuting to work or school, living in the Treasure Valley proper might be a better option.
