I’ve put videos of Nampa up on YouTube, as I’m sure you know. A conversation began as some called out Nampa as being “ghetto”. So I did a thorough tour of that part of town specifically described as “ghetto”… and there’s a Walmart there… which got called out as a “ghetto” Walmart. Then someone said that Caldwell’s Walmart is way more “ghetto” than Nampa’s.
Well, I went out and investigated and brought you the evidence so you can judge for yourself. Scroll down for my video tour.
Walmart Updated Their Security Measures
We moved to the Treasure Valley from California back in 2013. At that time, there were no security measures at Walmart like we had experienced in California… you know, the plexiglass securing the spray paint and disposable razors. But times have even changed here in Idaho… the women’s beauty products are now in their own little enclave with a checkout person right there.
Why women’s beauty products? I have no idea. But on the other hand, there was no additional security for the spray paint or electronics or even baby formula… things that I had seen tightly controlled back in California.
Observations on our Walmarts
Not even considering that the Nampa Walmart is supposed to be “ghetto” and that Caldwell’s is supposed to be even moreso, I found both of these stores clean and safe and very much orderly. I didn’t feel like I was already assumed to be a crook… like in California. And it’s not just in California… as a truck driver, I delivered loads to Walmarts all across the western states and many of them did feel like a crime scene waiting to happen. Even the outside of our Walmarts here were clean and inviting and obviously safe with much of their offerings just sitting outside.
Treasure Valley Dave's Thoughts
When you’re coming to the Treasure Valley from someplace else and you visit and compare your Walmart to our’s here, I think you will be totally surprised! You will feel like you’ve gone back in time. An important point to take away from this is, don’t believe everything you see on the internet. There are trolls, or people with jaded perspectives, who call our Treasure Valley towns, and Walmarts, “ghetto”. I’m not sure what would fit your definition of “ghetto” so I’ve provided these pictures and my video tour to help you decide for yourself.
When you’re visiting on your fact-finding trip to the Treasure Valley (to come see our Walmarts… or the area in general), or when you’re ready to buy your next home (not too far from Walmart!), just let Mareen and me know when you’re coming and we’ll spend some time together exploring the Treasure Valley or even finding your next home! Just call, text, email or smash that Contact Us button and let’s get connected! Maybe we can do lunch too! 🙌

Yes the walmarts and some of the other stores in Napa are ghetto. I travel over to Meridian to go shopping. Even when it comes to Costco because it’s too crowded too much traffic too hard to get In-N-Out of target and the other side where Costco is. Even for in and out we still go to Meridian
Interesting… I’m going to have to check out Meridian’s Walmarts and see how they compare!
