While checking out Mountain Home, Idaho, I happened up a great little book store! A great selection of books and good conversation with the owners! Oh… it’s not “Oxtail Books”… but rather “Foxtail Books”! My picture is a little misleading!
Great treasures found at Foxtail Books!
Some days ya just get lucky! I was in Mountain Home shooting a video and noticed this bookstore and had to check it out. Glad I did… got to meet Sandie and bought some good books! It’s really a family endeavor; Sandie and her hubby Chris along with Sandie’s dad, Frank, do everything here at Foxtail Books. Check ’em out on their Facebook page too!
What do I like about the books here? There’s a good selection that includes a lot of non-fiction books. That’s pretty much what I’m drawn to… but there’s a lot of the other kinds as well. The prices are good and they had a discount rack where I found two or three books that I couldn’t live without (one being the Doctor Who Encyclopedia!).
Of course you already know that Mountain Home is a military town with the Air Force base just down the road. The Air Force played a big role in Chris and Sandie’s lives… and very much so with Sandie’s dad, Frank! If you want to swap military stories from the old days, be sure to stop in for a chin-wag.
Foxtail Books is right on Main street across from where the Farmers Market is on Saturdays. It’s at 290 N Main St, Mountain Home. Give ‘em a call at 208-971-9479 or visit their Facebook page. If you get there around lunch time, there are some great places to eat just steps away.
Treasure Valley Dave's Thoughts
It was totally by chance that I made it to Foxtail Books and I’m so glad I did. I got to meet Sandie and Frank in-person and they have such a passion for books and helping folks find just the right books. Talking with Frank is like spending the afternoon with an old Air Force buddy… and very fun experience. If you get anywhere near Mountain Home, be sure to stop in and check it out… and tell ‘em Treasure Valley Dave sent ya!
