Hey everybody Treasure Valley Dave here! I just got done exploring downtown Caldwell and I wanted to share all of the great stuff I saw downtown!
I am here exploring downtown Caldwell at the Indian Creek Festival, and I’m not sure what it’s all about but I’m thinking they got a car show, tug of war, and kayak races and who knows what else! Let’s go find out and see what’s going on in Caldwell, Idaho!
What’s Downtown Caldwell Like?
Well, today there is just beautiful weather. I don’t think you could ask for anything better. I think we’re on the outskirts of this whole thing going on, so let’s just walk on over there and see what it’s all about. Before we get started, I do need to let you know that Caldwell is very similar to Nampa, they are bordering cities, and you often drive through one without realizing you’re in the other!
I’m here in the plaza area and they’ve always got something fun going on down here. Right by me is the creek, well Indian Creek, and this is where in the winter time they have over a million lights down here. Last season they had a fire breathing dragon made out of lights and stuff! You could come right over here by the river and you could eat your lunch, watch the river go by, no trash, no homeless, no graffiti, just some rushing water. This really could be your new home here, and the city of Caldwell is featured in our Relocation Magazine.
It looks like people already camped out for the kayak races, that’s going to have to be a fun event! We’ve got all sorts of vendors and stuff over here. I know I keep talking about the weather but the air is so fresh and crisp. It’s not cold out here, I’m sure it’s in the 60s.
Why Would You Want to Live in Caldwell?
Caldwell has a way of taking you back to America, it’s like you go back in time here. What does your America look like right now? Gang bangers? Maybe rap music at unbearable decibels? Graffiti, trash, and scared out of your wits that someone’s gonna look you in the eye and come beat the hell out of you? Not here. This is America right here. I say that because I can’t even count all of the American flags in the plaza here. It is just so patriotic.
Speaking of the center plaza, they’re going to have a SpongeBob musical here in a bit, and this is all free for the whole family. There is something fun here throughout the whole summer. You can see that they have these splash pads where the water just comes shooting out of the ground here and the kids are all playing. I mean just any random day you can come down here you’ll see a mom sitting around at these tables and just having conversations with their friends and the kids are out here just splashing around having a blast.
As far as some shopping and eating goes we’ve got Extreme Pizza, Fire and Ice Pottery, some wine place, and a variety of different stores that are being rehabbed. I tell you what, for as much as people think Idaho is just all potatoes, they really do have some great shopping and dining here.
