Caring Community of Marsing, Idaho

HUB Coordinator Becky Barkell Receives Donation from the Marsing Church of the Nazarene

If there is one thing that is becoming increasingly noticeable, it’s how long the lines are getting at the Food Banks. With cuts in funding and increased demand, the pressure is on to help our neighbors in need.

The Summer of Yum!

Enter The Summer of Yum. The Summer of Yum is a once-a-month summer dinner fundraiser purposed to benefit The Hub, Marsing’s local Food Bank; coordinator Becky Barkell, 208-649-411 ext 115. This year the dinners ran on Monday nights from June through October with a variety of menu items, the most popular being barbeque Tri-tip, hamburgers and chicken.

SPECIAL DECEMBER FUNDRAISER!

For our December fundraiser, creator of Summer of Yum, James Glenn, will have fresh roasted coffee available at The Winter Wonderland on December 6 in Marsing. He will be roasting Columbia Supremo, Guatemala Antigua, and Ethiopian Guji, available in 12oz whole bean or can grind at the time.

Bringing It All Together!

Check out the people who made this happen, the community’s growing food bank, and the appreciation among neighbors and friends.

Thanks For Helping!

In this first season, The Summer of Yum raised a whopping one thousand dollars for The Hub Food Bank and helped unify a community.

Many people and organizations eagerly stepped up to help stock up the Marsing food bank and contribute to the success of this great community. James Glenn prepares to thank those who helped!

Many hours went into this function and the whole community pitched in to make it successful. We thank the following for their support:

Marsing City Hall, Marsing Chamber of Commerce, Lizard Butte Public Library, Marsing Laundromat, M&W, The Spot Pizza, The Pour House Lounge, GFeller Casemakers, Sevy Auto Repair, White Automotive, Paws on Main, The Eddy, Busted Knuckle, Family Dollar and Bladeslinger Barber Shoppe.

Also to the Marsing School District, Superintendent Norm Stewart.

We would also like to give a special thanks to the hands-on, boots-on-the-ground support of the people who gave their time to work this project:

The Marsing Husky Cheer Team:

Coach: Tiffany Wright

Team: Madyson Wright, Savannah Francke, Ximena Molina, Grace Clay, Isabella Medina, Jazzy Urias, and Brooklyn Roadenbaugh.
And chaperone: Amber Clay

From the Marsing Church of the Nazarene: Jody Hampton, Genelle Birch, Lori White, Marlene Moore, Randy Crawford, Bob Brown, Tina Stoecke.

Finally an extra special thank you to: Janette Broman, Dave and Tammy Edwards and Sue Coleman.

Sincerely, James Glenn

What About Next Year?
