Mareen and Dave met with some new friends for lunch in Star. Turns out the sign was down as the building is getting painted. But rest assured, the El Mariachi Loco restaurant is open for business!
Great Food and a Great Price!
A new friend reached out to the Treasure Valley Dave team… you know me and Mareen, always up for lunch! We all made it out to the El Mariachi Loco restaurant in Star. It wasn’t my first time there… and it won’t be my last time either! (Check out their website for hours and menu and even catering options!)
This great little local favorite is a great place to come meet folks because they’ve got lots of room, it’s not too noisy and it’s in a good location on the east side of Star right on State St (or Hwy 44). (Click here for the map.)
Such a wide selection of great dishes. I always try to get something different each time I go and it’s always good. My problem… I fill up on chips and dip before the main course arrives. Somehow, I still manage to clean my plate!
I got a head-start on the chips as Mareen was busy helping some of our clients. Don’t worry… she caught up. The El Mariachi Loco has both a lunch menu and a full dinner menu. You don’t have to get totally stuffed at lunch (but it can happen!). Here’s the happy little fella who greets you at the door!
The first time I came here… years ago… was with clients as we were out looking at homes nearby. Their friend, Bert, was so shocked when the bill came that he had to take a picture of it and send it to friends back in California! The meal would have easily been twice as much back in Commiefornia! (Gotta love Idaho!)

The El Mariachi Loco is a great local restaurant. It’s casual, it’s comfortable, it’s friendly… and the food is really good. And in these tough times it’s nice to have a place to stop in for lunch or to bring the whole family for dinner that just won’t break the bank. So when you’re out looking for homes in Star, be sure to mention to Mareen or me you’d like to check this place out (we really enjoy having lunch there!). If you’re already living in Star, or nearby, make plans to visit the El Mariachi Loco! You’ll be glad you did!
